App Install/Update Workaround
PREFACE:
This KB will outline how to enable the installation or update of existing apps on work phones that are assigned to users across the organization. Managed Apple ID's do not have access to the App Store. New organizational policy dictates that Apple Devices that are being distributed must be signed into using a Managed Apple ID. This workaround will enable us to access the App Store for users who need apps that they don't already have, or update apps that require updates for continued use.
STEP 1 - Sign Out of the user's Managed Apple ID in Settings. Refer to the pictures below for help navigating to the Sign Out option in Settings. After you tap "Sign Out" you will be prompted to keep a copy of data on the device. Ignore this prompt and select the "Sign Out" option in the top right corner of the screen.

STEP 2 - Sign in to the Apple ID that was created for this workaround. The Apple ID login credentials are available in Keeper under [IT Dept > AppleID's > App Install Workaround for iPhone]. Refer to the pictures and link below for help with signing in.
KeeperĀ® Vault Login

PLEASE NOTE: After you've entered the login credentials you will be prompted for 2fa using a phone number that has been registered as an authentication method with the Workaround Apple ID. If the last 2 digits of your work cell number do not appear in the list of phone numbers eligible to receive a verification code (pictured below) please notify Christian Hodge or John Groh so that your phone number can be registered.

After you've entered the 2fa code you should be logged in and able to download/update apps from the App Store.
STEP 3 - Download and Update the user's requested applications through the App Store.
PLEASE NOTE: It may be helpful to use this opportunity to update all the user's installed apps. This can be done quickly by navigating to [App store > Account (initials in the upper righthand corner) > Apps > All] and tapping "Update" on all the apps that are prompting for it. Refer to the pictures below for help navigating the App Store.
Recommended Apps for Generic Users: Outlook, Authenticator, Zoom, Teams, Onedrive, Excel, Word, ADP My Work
Recommended Apps for IT Users: Generic User apps, Freshservice, Keeper

Step 4 - Sign Out of the Workaround Apple ID and Sign back into the User's Managed Apple ID. Remember, After you tap "Sign Out" you will be prompted to keep a copy of data on the device. Ignore this prompt and select the "Sign Out" option in the top right corner of the screen. During the Sign In process for the Managed Apple ID you should see the screen below after the User has entered their credentials. Tapping "Continue" on that screen will then prompt the user to login and authenticate through Microsoft. After the user has successfully signed in, login and authenticate on all newly installed apps.
